Your kitchen is where you spend a lot of time. After all, you prepare your meals in the kitchen, you eat in the kitchen, and you can even do your work in the kitchen. Therefore, it’s understandable if you want to keep it as clutter-free as possible. Unfortunately, some homeowners aren’t certain as to how they can do this.
1. Get Rid of What You No Longer Need
When you have too many things around your kitchen, consider dedicating one day to cleaning it up. Check and see if there are any things that you no longer use or need. If there are any items that fall in this category, experts recommend that you get rid of them; you can throw them in the trash, donate the items, give them away to your neighbors or sell them if you want to make a small profit when getting rid of your things.
2. Find Alternatives to the Pile
It can be easy to stockpile your kitchen items. Your bowls, plates, napkins and even your pots and pans. While there’s nothing wrong with having a lot of the first three, avoid stockpiling your pots, pans and small appliance accessories to prevent a cluttered look. Instead, utilize your walls and create a wall rack in which to hang your pots, pans or lids.
3. Keep Your Countertops Clear
Your granite countertops are a focal point for your kitchen, and, therefore, if you want to reduce the clutter around your kitchen, be sure to keep your countertops clear. Avoid using the countertop as a drop-off place for your mail, keys and magazines. If needed, relocate your small appliances and non-essential countertop decor as well.
4. Keep Things in Your Cabinet
Some homeowners prefer open shelving for their kitchens. However, if you want to prevent the kitchen from looking too cluttered, consider converting your open shelves into cabinets, and keep your small appliances behind closed doors.
