Are Your Bathroom and Kitchen Counters Supposed to Match?

Home improvement projects are sometimes easier to do all at once. So, many homeowners will decide to update their kitchen and bathroom countertops at the same times. The result is that these counters become mostly similar, if not downright identical.

This is not really a problem. However, it does raise the question in many people’s mind of whether their bathroom countertops should match the ones in their kitchens. As with most remodeling designs, there are no hard fast rules about this matter, but there are choices that can make your project look as good as possible.

Complementary Over Identical

Consider complementary designs for your kitchen and bathroom instead. Keep an eye out for companies that offer a wide selection of countertop styles. This gives you more room to find two complementary countertops you can use for both your kitchen and bathroom.

No Matches at All

Kitchens and bathrooms are two separate rooms, and, as such, it’s perfectly fine to design them as such. There is nothing that requires you to coordinate and match the counter designs for either rooms. But if you wish to do so, it’s also okay. Some homeowners will choose counter styles for these rooms that are independent of the styles in the other.

Consistency With Elements

Even if your kitchen and bathroom counters do not match, you can still tie the styles between these two rooms with a few design elements. For example, you can paint your discount kitchen cabinets a certain color that matches the color of the tiles around your bathroom vanity. This creates a consistency within your interiors that can make everything look more harmonious.
