Read This First Before Considering a Waterfall Countertop

As you’re planning to remodel your kitchen, you might be thinking about installing countertops with waterfall edges. Of course, this trending style will look great on any contemporary kitchen design, but you’ll need to have it installed by trusted professionals.

If you’re not completely sure about waterfall countertops, here’s what you need to consider:

How Waterfall Edge Countertops Work

When the material on top of the cabinets is carried over to their side, it creates the appearance of a “waterfall” as if the countertop is pouring down. These are popular on kitchen islands because they act as a great focal point in the room.

What makes a waterfall countertop stand out from a conventional one is the point where the side and top meet. This is a crucial element of the illusion, so, if you’re also considering using wood, the veins in the wood should be closely matched to create the appearance of one seamless piece. Otherwise, it will not look like the same piece of material.

They’re Durable and Easy to Clean

Conventional kitchen countertops have a lot of corners and crevices that collect unwanted elements, such as dirt and dust. But with a granite waterfall edge countertop, it’s just one endless surface, which is undoubtedly simpler to clean than the joints and crevices of typical countertops. Waterfall countertops made from hard materials like granite are resilient enough to withstand the wetness they will constantly be exposed to, provided that it’s been installed and sealed properly.

They Are Worth the Investment

Getting a granite waterfall edge countertop usually requires a higher upfront cost than a conventional one because the design requires more material. However, it’s also worth your investment because it provides more storage space.

Do note that while it’s possible to integrate the waterfall countertops design into almost every kitchen style, it may not always blend well with certain themes and designs. It will surely go well with a contemporary kitchen, for example, but it may look out of place with some traditional designs.
