Top 6 Best Edge Profiles for Your Granite Countertops

Your countertop itself, whether in the kitchen or bathroom, is constantly being seen and touched so it’s important to consider the impact your countertop edge will have on the aesthetics of your space. Here are your top options.

  • Eased Edge
This edge is most commonly used on backsplashes, but can also be used on countertops to give it a clean look. Eased edges offer a square flat face with the sharp edge on top rounded slightly.  Sometimes, the eased edge is rounded enough to be called a quarter round granite edge.
  • Half Bullnose/Rounded-Over Edge:
The half bullnose edge can also be called the round-over because, instead of being squared off, it is rounded.  It offers a smooth and round surface. It shows a larger cross section of your stone.
  • Full Bullnose Edge
The full bullnose has the most contemporary look of all the granite countertops edges. A side view of full bullnose shows the shape of a half circle. The full bullnose is gentle on the body and has no edges. It tends to make the countertops look thinner.
  • Bevel Edge
Bevels are 45-degree cuts into the edge of the stone. The deeper the cut, the wider the bevel face is.
  • Ogee Edge
From the side, an ogee edge forms the shape of an “S”. This type of edge involves creating a concave arch that moves into a convex arch. This tiered edge has a framing effect for the corner of your granite.
  • Rock Edge
Also known as a chiseled edge profile, our rock edge exposes the raw stone and gives your countertop a unique, more natural appearance. This rustic edge is perfect for natural stones like granite countertops as it enhances its raw beauty and highlights its unique details.
